Yipeee!! After the long winter break, NASCAR season is back in swing. Tonight at 8 p.m. EST is the Bud Shootout! You better believe we'll be tuned in and filling the room with the sound of cars! Ahhhh, I've missed that sound.
My good friend (and fellow race fan!) Dawn Easton and I thought it would be fun to make a couple racing-related cards today to celebrate the season being back underway...well, it's the Shootout, so I guess it's the UNofficial official start of the season. Anyhooo...be sure to check out Dawn's card too. I'm anxious to see it myself!! I'll bet it's super cute. Oh, and give her an extra little {cyber hug} because she's not feeling well.
Feel free to play along with us if you'd like! Dawn even came up with a keyword for SCS uploads. Just make a card that has something to do with racing and upload to SCS with keyword NASCAR1. Oh, and we're going to do this again next Sunday for the Daytona 500!
My card is a 5.25" square card....and it's KEVIN HARVICK themed...of course! {smile} The colors on my card are the same colors as his Shell Pennzoil car, if you look closely at the red panel you'll see I stamped some shells on there, and his number is there too. I made the checkered flag with Rose Ann's Ribbon Weaving Technique...finally got a chance to try it. Fun!...and great for making checkered flags!
The yellow circle with the #29 is up on Dimensionals and so is the punched sentiment. Both were stamped in white Craft ink and heat embossed with red embossing powder. I made the #29 and *Go Kevin* sentiment with my JustRite Brayton font and circle stamper. Did you know you can get the JustRite products, including this Brayton font and the wooden stampers, at both Stamper's Dream and Taylored Expressions? You can! Matter of fact, you can get the Classic Red Prism Paper at both stores too!
Thank you, Jodi, for the awesome May Arts ribbon!! It goes perfectly with Kevin's colors!

And today at 4:00 on Speed is the ARCA race where Frank Kimmel races against his nephew Will Kimmel (3rd generation driver). One you really don't want to miss because Will actually out-qualified Frank (9-time ARCA/ReMax Champion).
ReplyDeleteAnd yes I will be tuning into the shootout as well!
This card is toooooo cute! While I don't share your love for the "racing world" (you KNOW I am a football girl), I definitely appreciate your enthusiasm! We girls love our sports!
ReplyDeleteBTW, love your new banner and sidebars...perfect how she incorporated those little "peanuts" on the vine!
Happy details and i love how super fun this RACE card turned out! tfs
ReplyDeleteOMG! Love that you created a checkered flag! NOW that is cool! You are so right, those colours go perfectly with Kevin's car!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was a challenge but I totally enjoyed making a card!
I've got reminders on ALL day for the practices and then Race Day before the race!!!
I guess it's a good thing I'm sick so I can stay in ;)
Have a GREAT weekend!
Love your card-okay and Kevin is okay too! **wink**. Go Tony Stewart!! New number, new team, new year! Our other favorites-Jeff Burton, Kasey Kahne, and Jamie McMurray! Let's go racing!

ReplyDeleteGive your Dad a hug from me!! LOL!
Did you know Kevin Harvick and his wife live in a 22,000 square foot house? Saw it on CMT cribs...imagine the stamp room possibilites!! LOL!
Hi!
ReplyDeleteToday I posted an entry on my blog with a link to yours.
Would you let me know if that's OK?
Thanks,
Nancy Ward
How fun is this!!! Perfect! I do love racing and I'll be cheering for ........ KEVIN!
ReplyDeleteYEAH....I've found a NASCAR fan; cannot wait for the Bud Shootout!
ReplyDeleteI love Kevin; but my favorite is Tony...of course, I have a LONG list of ones I love....
BOOGITY, BOOGITY, BOOGITY, LET'S GO RACIN' BOYS!!!
Hey Denise - I can tell you're just as excited as I am. I like Kevin Harvick as well - there are so many that I like but think I have Kasey Kahne at the top (I hope he does better this year). This was a great card - I love it. Enjoy the shootout - I know I'm ready for it :)
ReplyDeleteI am not a race fan, but I like the card. Great technique. TFS!
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to let you know that I nominated you for couple awards on my blog. Hope you play along. :o)

Great card Denise!!! Brad really liked it, thats his driver too!
ReplyDeleteOur family will be watching the shootout of course :)
Brad is routing for Kevin #29
I am routing for Tony #14 this year and the rest of the family is going for Carl Edwards.
What a mixed up family :)
I can't wait to see what you come up for next weekend!
Have a great Saturday.
Supah cute, and since I like Kevin, I won't knock the #29!!
ReplyDeleteI was so surprised to see your post! NASCAR? I thought I was the only one, which made me feel like a weirdo. Right now I'm watching the ARCA race and I live a hop, skip and jump from Kimmel's racing garage.
ReplyDeleteTony Stewart's got a new number this year. Dale Jr is away from step-mom. And I will always miss Dale Sr.
Now, if I could only figure out how to get the sound to come through my surround system, but it's hooked up to the DVR first.
I'm rambling. . . cuz it's RACING DAY
Oh Denise, this is such a great NASCAR card! Love the colors, ribbon and all the personalized things. I know Jackie just said she saw Kevin on CMT Cribs...I saw it too! WOW, what a fabulous house and his little go cart track was super cool! Anyways, I finally got my card posted for the NASCAR challenge. I will be rooting for Mark Martin come Daytona next week! WooHoo!

ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun card! I love it!
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I'm definitely going to play with you guys next Sunday for Daytona! I love all your NASCAR creations. DH is so excited -- we have a new TV that is sooo much better and he can't wait to watch a little NASCAR on it! I think I'll be going a bit deaf this time next week... ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat an AWESOME card, Denise!! Your checkered flag and colors are perfect!! Thanks for the shout out too!!
ReplyDeleteLet's Go Racin'! It's so nice to know of another stamper who is also a HUGE NASCAR fan! Woot Woot! Love your projects they are adorable! However, I am a Jimmie Johnson Girl! I have been his fan since he's been a rookie!
ReplyDeleteHugs~ Kim
What a way cool idea to make NASCAR cards! I'm a die-hard Tony Stewart fan, but all the drivers are fun to watch. How about poor Biffle in the shoot-out? 4 for 4 in wrecks, until he finally limped away totally destroyed! poor guy! Always someone else's fault too!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for Harvick's win, and 3rd place for Tony was a great finish too. I'm really looking forward to Daytona and finding time to make a NASCAR card between now and then! TFS
You're way too cute, this is one fabulous card Denise! I know my "daddy" is happy that the season is back up and running!
ReplyDeleteThis is sooo AWESOME, Denise....love the ribbon weave and the super cool colors!!! I have some #24 dp....I'll have to make a card for the big one next Sunday!!!
ReplyDeleteCOOL card!! LOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteHA - I just KNEW I liked you and now I know it! So glad racing is back (Boogity, Boogity, Boogity!!!) and your card is awesome. :)
