Hi all, we just got home from kindergarten orientation for our 5-year-old. Can I just tell you how that HIT me like a ton of bricks that she's actually going to school.....real school....as in kindergarten with real curriculum, academic testing, lunch money, buses, guidance counselors and school principals? The funny thing is just this a.m. I was talking to another mom from preschool and I was saying how "I'm fine with it and I'm ready for her to go to kindergarten" and how I thought "my husband is the one who will be upset." NOPE....I'm the one that was sitting there fighting tears like you wouldn't believe. Oye! Some tough talker I am, lol!
Anyhooo, enough of my boo-hoo'ing and onto the card I want to show you today. It's for this week's OCL Sketch #12 from the sweet and talented Charmaine. I turned the sketch sideways to accommodate the image I wanted to use from my Life's a Picnic set. The sentiment was cut apart and popped up on foam tape. The image was stamped in black craft on watercolor paper, heat embossed with clear embossing powder, and watercolored with SU inks. The DP is Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety. Oh, and I added some stickles to the cherry, bandana, and pie.
Have a great day!

Darling card, Denise. Love how you shaded around the image. I remember the day when my "baby" went to Kindergarten.... They grow up sooo quickly. I wished I cold have frozen them in time for a while as I just loved the 3 - 5 year old age. And yet, I am enjoying all the other stages as they grow up too. Keep a "mommy box" with some of their special drawings etc. - it is so much fun to go through now and then (((hugs))).
ReplyDeleteThis image cracks me up!! Your coloring is superb, Denise!
ReplyDeleteI always love to see how you put colors together...wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteLOL you will be just fine ;) Glad that you got all that done and I'm sure Kara is super excited about September now!
ReplyDeleteYour card is adorable! Wonderful watercolouring...you can do it ever so lightly...I just have too heavy of a hand I think...ha!
Gosh...I totally feel for ya, Denise! They just grow up too fast, don't they?
ReplyDeleteI love your adorable card! Beautifully colored, and I love the papers & stitching!!
Sweet, soft and gorgeous, Denise! Just like your "mum heart"! Don't be too hard on yourself ... it is a wrench every time another one goes off to school. But ... try not to do what I did ... I couldn't bear the thought of my youngest (of 4) going off to school ... so I had another!!! Yep!!! And ... now ... after 20 years of schooling ... no. 4 is nearly finished high school (year 12) and will be moving onto UNI next year ... but no. 5 is still only starting high school next year!!! Another 6 years of school lunches ... science projects ... grubby uniforms STILL TO GO!!! What was I thinking??? (grin) But ... he is my little buddy and keeps me company when the others are all out and about! I wouldn't have it any other way! Sorry to rabbit on so long!!! xxAxx
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this image watercolored!! What a great card!!!
ReplyDeleteI cried when my little one started kindergarten. Fortunately I was able to keep it together until I got back out to the car. Certainly didn't want him to see me cry or he would have cried too. :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely card. The watercoloring is beautiful.
Ok - your little fabulous touches of perfection make all your cards stand out and I cant get enough woman!
