Good morning. I made this card for someone who was feeling a little down and I hope it brightened her day.
The fun layout is Mojo Monday Sketch #224. Two Flutterby butterflies were cut out and glued down on separate layers of foam tape. The sentiment is from Feel the Sun. Papers are Fine and Dandy Girl by My Mind's Eye.
ETA: The "fold" in the ribbon is something I saw Amy Sheffer do (on THIS card here)...thought it was cool and had to try it myself. Mine didn't come out as "neat" looking as hers. I think mine looks kind of messy, but it was fun to try. Speaking of messy....
When I tie bows with twine, the loops always "twist" for some reason and I fight with it to get it to look right. Does anyone have any twine-tying tips??
We're supposed to have our friends over tonight for a "Jambalaya Night," but it snowed a little last night. I guess we'll have to see if this little storm clears up by later today or if they want to reschedule. I hope it still works out that they can come over, but we'll see how it goes. {fingers crossed}
Have a fannnnnn-tastic Saturday! :)

Hey, I've never seen a card that you've made that wouldn't make someone happy. This one is so bright and cheery - it's certain to pick up your friend's spirits. The twisting isn't my issue with twine - it's that I always feel like I have to tie a double knot before tying the bow - otherwise I fear it will not stay tied. Then, the bow is always sort of wobbly on that double knot. Any suggestions? This weekend John and I both have some serious bookwork to do. Plus, I need to do house work and I'm going to start painting my kitchen cupboards.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS card my friend! Seriously! LOVE all those pretty colours and that ribbon/twine along with the butterfly die and rhinestones! HAHA...I had that same sentiment in my hand earlier in the week(when it was too cold to colour)! My twine bow always twists too...not sure if people spray the twine with something to stiffen it up? If you hear a tip...please let me know ;)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this denise! There is no way this wouldn't brighten someone day! That ribbon rocks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card. No hints from me on the twine. Mine always twist also. Just thought it was supposed to. HA! Love your color choices.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh Denise, this is such a happy card! I love what you did with the ribbon!!!
ReplyDeleteDelicious looking Denise! This is a total day brightener card. Love how you've tied the ribbon...twine is funny that way isn't it. I always have to pull my tails to get the bows right.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely card Denise. That butterfly is so pretty... and I love the ribbon treatment and the blings! :o)
ReplyDeleteVery cute card!
ReplyDeleteI have the same problems with loops, therefore I them tie bows with head over heels or sideways
So sweet and lovely, Big D! Hope you're able to have your Jambalaya and friends tonight. Now you've got that song in my head and it will be IMPOSSIBLE to remove!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet, happy card love it! I know exactly what you mean about the twine. I'm wondering if making the bow on the bow easy will work better, hmmm.... I'll give it a go tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAwesome card, and I LOVE how you turned that wide striped ribbon down at the top and tied it with twine!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Denise - it is so colorful. I love how you did the ribbon !!!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Susie.. your cards would always brighten someone's day =)
ReplyDeletetruly love this card..love the colors and I really like the sentiment... I wish I could give you some baker's twine tips but I'm new to using it myself and haven't actually used it much... but if you do get some great tips please share them with us!
This definitely would have brightened my day ... I think you are on a winner! I don't think you should stress about the twine twisting ... cos it certainly isn't obvious. No one would have noticed anything amiss if you hadn't pointed it out! And ... even know it ... I can't see any prob! :) I wonder if you got to see your friends? Hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteLOVE this fun, cheerful card and that layout is awesome! I generally just get aggressive with my twine bows and untwist them and sometimes add a tiny glue dot rolled in half underneath to help it stay in place.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful card! I love the crystals and the unique ribbon treatment.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic card! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, very spring time!! Love the colors, saying, embellishments, but most of all what you did with your ribbon, what a cute way to use it!!!
ReplyDeleteDenise I love the unique way you wrapped the ribbon over on itself and scrunched it together. The gems make a fabulous flutter trail for the butterfly!
