Softer Wildflower Garden

Okay, so yesterday I made a *dramatic* red, white and black card with my Wildflower Garden stamps. Today I have a *softer* card to show you using the same stamps. After I posted my red, white and black card yesterday, I saw THIS BEAUTY from Leslie.....and then I had to RUN and play with my silhouette stamps again. I loved her CAS design with the two shades of purple so I just had to CASE her.....hope ya don't mind, Leslie. {grin} The sentiment is from my JustRite Baroque Nested Centers set.

Wildflower Garden

Here's a card I made for Karen sketch #77 and Jessie's color challenge. I'm not at ALL happy with how this card turned out....BUT....I spent time on it so I'm posting it, lol! The silhouette image (called Wildflower Garden) is stamped in black craft ink and heat embossed with detail clear embossing powder, then I added small dots of candy cane stickles to the flowers. The card measures 3.5" x 6". Here's a close-up...

Here are a couple more recipes I've tried recently from Ree Drummond.....and they are really yummy recipes! She ROCKS!





Both of these are 5 x 7 cards. I didn't use any stamps on the enchilada card...just DP, sewing, a little bit of eucalyptus stickles on the tomato leaf, and a border punch. On the drip beef card, I used my Hero Arts What's Cooking clear set that I got from Stamper's Dream. The pot holders were stamped on the Farm Fresh DP in Memento Tuxedo Black, cut out and attached to the card with brads and tape.

I'm cuckoo for you

Hi everyone and happy Sunday! The birthday party yesterday was a success....well, other than some drama over the pinata apparently not having enough candy in it, lol! Today we're just taking it easy. Parties are exhausting, aren't they?....FUN, but exhausting. Anyhooo....enough babble and onto my card.

It's actually the second one I made today because I hosed the first one with a big ink spot (arghhhh!) when it was all done. The stamps are from my Hero Arts Cuckoo clear set from Stamper's Dream. They're stamped in Memento Cocoa and I added some Stickles to the grass and flowers in the clock. The polka dot panel is up on foam tape. The DP is Farm Fresh by October Afternoon and the blue panel is Prism Baby Blue Light. The green flower was made with a Spellbinders die and I added a Chocolate Kaiser Craft Pearl to the center.

More kitchen stuff...

...this time I made a gift set for my Mom-Mom (grandmother).



Just like the set I made for my Aunt the other day, I used my JustRite Trompe fonts and Kitchen/Library/Desk set for the circle element on the recipe cards.



She also does a lot of canning with peaches and spaghetti sauce, so I made up a bunch of round labels to fit on the tops of the jars. I added two strips of Scor-Tape to the backs of them and just left the backing on them, so when she's ready to stick them on the lids all she has to do is peel the backing and they're good to go.



I included a full card (you can see it in the photo at the top of this post) in her set rather than a card front like I did with my Aunt's set. The apron and Made With Love sentiment are from my Hero Arts What's Cooking clear set.

Kitchen Tilda

Lookie here....I went and bought my first Tilda. I have to admit I wasn't always so *into* the Magnolia stamps, but they've totally grown on me now...especially Kitchen Tilda. Love her! I thought she'd be perfect for some recipe cards.

Instead of making myself some more typed up cards, I decided to make a stack of blank recipe cards for my Aunt Kay as one of her Christmas gifts this year. She's a really great cook and people are always asking her for her recipes (me included) and she normally writes them down on a blank white index card. Now she'll have some *prettied up* cards to use.



I made a total of twelve 4x6 recipe cards, four of each of these. The sentiment circle was done with my JustRite Library/Kitchen/Desk Set and Trompe fonts. The word "recipe" is from my Hero Arts What's Cooking clear set.

Then I just made a 4x6 cover, decorated just like a card front with Kitchen Tilda, put the cover on the top of the stack of recipe cards, and tied it all closed with some white ribbon. The sentiment at the bottom is also from my Hero Arts What's Cooking clear set.

Raisin Cake & Spiced Nuts

Hey there! I made two recipe cards for today's Inkspirations Challenge....wow, what a great sketch and how PERFECT for recipe cards!

On both cards, I used used my Hero Arts What's Cooking clear set with some patterned paper that I picked up at Michael's and Prism Vibrant Cobalt CS. The purple crystals on both cards are glued down with a small dot of Diamond Glaze.


The "secret recipe" (that's not such a secret if I posted it on my blog, huh? hehe!) tag on the first one is up on foam tape.


On this second card, I added some lavender Stickles to the hearts in the "Made with Love" sentiment.

*Note about recipe cards*
I've gotten a few emails and comments from some of you saying you're afraid to make a recipe card thinking it will get messy while cooking. I'm a messy cook too, folks! What I do is store my recipe cards in clear protectors. If I slop up the plastic cover, I can just wipe it off and the recipe card is still good as new. {smile}

*Note about the raisin cake recipe*
I'm especially fond of the raisin cake recipe since it's one that's been in my family for a long time. My tip for this recipe, if you're going to try it out, is to make sure you cook the raisins in med to med-low heat so you keep as much of the liquid as possible because you'll need it for the batter....helps keep the batter "workable." Also, I take my cake out of the oven when it is JUST barely done. That also keeps it really moist. Oven times vary, so start checking it at 45 minutes.



*Note about our Christmas tree*
I had some questions about our Christmas tree and what's underneath (sorry that it has taken me so long to answer this....I kept forgetting to add it to my posts this week). My husband loves trains and likes to have one under our tree. He built a big wooden base for the train tracks and tree stand. The base is elevated a little so he can run all the wires for the village buildings between the base and the floor. The little village buildings you see in the photo are all Christmas-related buildings (a toy shop and toy clock tower, Santa's Sleigh Depot, a village mill with a waterwheel, and a wood workshop)...they all light up and a couple of them have moving parts. You may be wondering why there's only one train car. Our cat likes to knock the cars down (total brat that he is!...kidding, love him!) and we're tired of setting each one up over and over and over again....so this year, we decided to just have a "Christmas Trolley" instead of a "Christmas Train." {smile}

Twilight Sarah Kay

Happy Easter Sunday!! I made this card a while ago and just never posted it (see all that icky snow in the background...yeah, hopefully we won't be seeing any more of THAT anymore...ewwww!).

I used my Twilight Prism Papers Trio and paired them with these Sarah Kay Spring Blossoms and Hero Arts Happy Greetings stamps. The main image is stamped on Neenah White CS. A second girl was colored, cut out, and popped up on Dimensionals. I added some Waterfall Stickles to the centers of the flowers and the ribbon on her hat. Gun Metal Stickles were added to her scissors. I painted a white prima flower with some December Sky Shimmerz paint.

Stamper's Dream is now totally restocked with a huge selection of Stampavie (both Rachelle Ann Miller and Sarah Kay) stamps. Hurry over and check it out!

Island Cheesecake

Ha...did that title get your attention? Yeah, sounds yummy to me too. The "Island" is this Island Mist Prism CS (and it might just be my new favorite Prism color) and the "Cheesecake" is this CUTE Penny Black Cheesecake Party image. I love Penny Black stamps! They're so cute and SOO fun to paper tole.



The image was stamped three times in Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah White CS, colored with Prisma Pencils (boy, I haven't pulled those out in a LONG time), and then layered on Dimensionals...the full image is layered twice and then the cupcake with the candle is layered a third time. Yellow stickles were added to the flame. The layout is Taylor's TECC61 sketch.

OCC Birthday Challenge

Today's OCC challenge is super easy. Ready for all the details??....make a birthday card. That's it! Make ANY kind of birthday card you'd like. Easy peasy, right?

I got this cute WS image a while ago from Sandy, even had it colored and waiting in the file.

...the file...oh I should show you that sometime...my oh-so-professional (NOT!) way of storing PIF'd images, LOL! Anyway, sorry, I got sidetracked there.

The image from "the file" was colored with Prisma Pencils and then blended with baby oil. Today I colored an extra balloon, blended it with Gamsol (because now that I've started working with Gamsol, I do prefer that to blending with baby oil), cut it out, and popped it up on dimensionals over the base layer. I added some red rhinestones over some of the pieces of confetti, glued them down with a small drop of Crystal Effects.

I stamped four candles from my Hero Arts Cupcake set in the lower left-hand corner on the inside of the card, colored them with Prisma Pencils, and blended them with Gamsol too. The card wasn't made with anyone in particular in mind. My 3-year-old will have lots of classmates turning 4 this year though, so I'm sure it'll be put to use in another couple months or so.

...and lookie here....what is this??...could that be a stamped envelope?! Yepper!! ...just for you, Nicole. hehe! Now, I doubt I'll do this all the time, but I just couldn't resist making one today...just for you! :)

Cupcake Friday..hehe, on Sunday

Here's a card I made for Taylor's Cupcake Friday challenge.

The card measures 4.25" x 4.25" square. I stamped two cupcakes on PTI's Chocolate DP (the vanilla paper with small chocolate polka dots), cut those out, and glued them down on the vanilla panel. I stamped four more cupcakes on the new Bella Rosa DP from SU (two on the Kiwi Kiss print and two on the chocolate polka dot print), cut those out, and popped them up on dimensionals over the base cupcakes. I added some Pink Smoothie Glitter from Art Institute Glitter (awesome stuff...reeeeally sparkly) and then glued down two red rhinestones for the cherries.

Circle Challenge

Today's Limited Supplies Challenge on SCS was to use circles....any stamps, any color, any embellishments, but only circle tools such as circle die cuts, circle punches, and circle cutting systems. I also incorporated Tuesday's Color Challenge (basic black, purely pomegranate, and soft sky) since I didn't get a chance to play with the combo earlier in the week.

Cupcake Friday

Here's a card for Taylor's Cupcake Challenge #9. Thanks to my friends Janice and Janette for sending me samples of the new Papertrey colors and the Hero Arts cupcake images!! I love these little cupcakes, and the new Papertrey colors are beautiful!!...especially the berry sorbet!! I think I *MUST* order it!

Do you see my BIG OOPS?? Do you remember that Sesame Street game...one of these things is not like the other. Well, can you guess? Yep, the square panel in the lower right corner. The designer paper was running the wrong direction when I stamped the sentiment. {sigh} LOL at myself!

Ramblings about the card: I took a 5.25 x 10.5 piece of CS and folded it in half to get a 5.25" square card. The circles are up on dimensionals. I watercolored the pink icing with SU pretty in pink ink. The foil cups and hearts were colored with prisma pencils. I used baby oil and stumps to blend the pencils. I used a Sakura sparkle pen to add some glitter to the sprinkles.
